how would it be cheaper to sell your truck and buy a 5.3L than do an engine swap. You can do a 5.3L engine swap for under $2000

could be that he can't un-*** that kinda cash, where he can finance the V8 as part of the truck

im doing a 5.3L swap. i bought the engine for 800. tearing it down to make sure everything is in good condition (which it is) and im putting it back together right now. i mean its gonna be some work and some time, but its all in your budget. im in no real hurry to get this motor in. all in all, its a little cheaper than buying a truck with a V8 in it IMO

as right as you may be, its just not that easy for some of us...hey may not have $800 just laying around or the time to install the motor once he gets it, or the tools to do it or the want to to do it...and some people are just like me and just want a new vehicle every other year or so...

Well if I could find a motor and a wiring harnes, time, a shop to do the work in.(They don't let you do any work in the barracks parking lot lol) that would be what I would do. Plus i'm mnot sure if the factory 5-Speed would bolt up to the engine, and if it does would it handel the 5.3???

But anyway guys, with the Truck market droping over the last year sience i bought the truck, I owe a LOT more than it is worth. So the engine swap may not be a bad deal. Anypne have a 4.8/5.3 for sale in the Oklahoma/Texas area. Oh yeah, and that can tune my truck for the bigger motor.

oh and the 5spd came on the 5.3s stock also. the 4l60e is gonna break before the stick is. plus you wouldnt need to waste money on a stall. if you dont do the motor swap how much you want for the truck???
