Mine has been descreened forever and it runs great. I also took out 75% of torque management and STILL haven't blown my transmission with 190k miles. Just put a big cooler and a Corvette serve, and keep the fluid changed every 20k or so.

I would say a 3000 or 3200 stall and tune will give you the best bang for your buck. $1,000 or so. Maybe a little more if you pay to have the TC installed.

Leave everything else alone and put a magnacharger TVS1900 on it. Just that alone will have a larger gain then anything else. I went through all this and ended up still putting a TVS2300 on mine...With all the cams and other mods I sometimes wish I would have just put the TVS1900 on it and left everything else alone.

Well said. I refuse to even purchase a cam or stall... Ive been down that path before, save and do it right once. Then you will come out tons cheaper and faster. Get a TVS supercharger. Im working on one now for my vortec max engine in my Tahoe. Just a tune alone does wonders and would yield better all round results until a TVS and retune.

what do you mean by cut the airbox? i hope you didnt cut it to "open it", letting hot engine air get sucked into the intake... also, descreening the maf isnt going to gain you anything and could potentially harm it if something were to make its way through the filter... best bet is some long tubes, exhuast, and a good tune with some trans tuning as well.

I'm a huge proponent of this as well. Not just magnacharger, but other FI as well. You see better $/hp ratio this way. No doubt about it.
