Default Help with 4.8 Upgrades

Just got a 09 Silverado 4.8/4L60E and I'm looking for some upgrades to get better MPG and little more horsepower. So far I have a Spectre Performance CAI 9918B and Flowmaster 40 series exhaust. I'm thinking of getting an Diablo sport trinity or in-tune programmer but i don't know which one to get. Also my local dealer is offering performance tuning for my truck for $600 and $125 for each additional tune. What would be the best mods without spending thousands of dollars?

Thinking about:
180 thermostat
Jet MAF sensor
JBA Shorty Headers

The best upgrade you can do to the 4.8 is by getting rid of it. No replacement for displacement....

Best bang for the buck mods:

Tune
Stall Converter
Gears
Long tube headers
Nitrous

Popular tuners:
Blackbear
Wheatley
Nelson Performance

As mentioned above, don't waste your time on the mass air flow, shorty headers, or colder thermostat.

Buy HP Tuners or EFI Live for that matter and learn to do it yerself.
The mods in my sig have me pretty happy for now but I dont have an automatic transmission to deal with.

For The Stall Converter should i go with a 2200 stall converter? What gears would you recommend?

Can't argue with that - I just dumped my long-time 4.8l for a 383 Stroker - no going back :burnout
