Re: HELP! 6.0 tranny problems!
i think i have my solution but i still have questions about the heads (if anyone knows how to read the numbers). i talked to several local motorheads and all agree on drilling out the flexplate i have now. we'll see how that works.

Since I remember that motor from that ebay auction, and it had 98 LS1 heads on an 2000 6 liter block. I remember thinging to myself "I bet that guy didn't even install new head gaskets and bolts".
Since you are going for performance, lots of boost, and wanting big numbers, I'd go ahead and get new gaskets and head bolts. It will save you tons of time and effort and you will at least have a good feeling about the motor. You dont want to blow a head gasket.

Dude if your crank extends near 1/2" out past the seal you have the wrong crank and it wont fit,if your problem is the torque converter bolt holes wont line up then you need to use your flexplate. You cant use the early 6.0 flexplate with a 4l60E. If you have the early 6.0 crank you will bust your trans pump/converter if you try to stab it in.

Re: HELP! 6.0 tranny problems!
actually going to try to return the motor. why would it break anything? as long as the distance to the converter is the same, it would be fine. with the 6.0 f-plate, the distance is equal, just the bolt circle for the converter is a little different by 1/4, that's all.

Forget the flexplate for a moment. think about the back of the crack where the piliot of the converter goes into the crankshaft. well now it pushes the converter back into the trans allmost 1/2inch .400 thou to be exact if i remember correctly

Re: HELP! 6.0 tranny problems!
looks like there is about 1/4" of depth left. i'll just have to test fit the converter for depth clearance.
