Hehe, if I held the brakes on mine I could get em to start spinning a bit but as soon as I let off I left maybe 18" of rubber on the ground and then she hooked up and was gone. I tried going with a 29" Toyo they got super good traction but maybe were just too sticky for spinning After that I stuck a set of Cooper Discoverer A/T's on there that were 32.75" tall to see what that would do. Still not really that much in the way of spinning. Sure did funny things to the shifting though. It would drop into second if I went WOT at 80mph.

Get a good posi,Eaton[not a G80]or Auburn Pro and a good set of performance radials.Nitto 555s or Toyo Proxes STs for street use.Nitto 555Rs or BFG Drag Radials for track use.Do a little testing to get your tire pressures right and you will be amazed how well your truck will hook.

When I had the 295/45/20's on I had spin issues on a hard launch with my 99. Those tires had a 12" contact patch and were 30.5 inches tall and I have a 3.42 rear end. Something is up why you guys have a hard time even trying to brake torque.

i have the kumho's 255x55x18 and leave at 1200rpms no spin on 30lbs or air. if i stall any higher i just spin so find your right rpm for the truck to get the best launch oh ya the breaks wont hold the truck with higher rpms either lol later

bigguy....I can roast the tires (285/60-17's) at a stopsign without the brakes and when I hold the brakes and puch it it will absolutly anhiliate the tires...I weight considerably more than you do (5660lbs), and have the 4L80 which has the crappy 1st gear. Does the Whipple lag that bad at low RPM's or is there another issue going on ??....even a stock 5.3 should bark the tires and ALL LSx motors (even the lowly 4.8) should be able to turn over the stock tires with the brakes held

Ya Yelo you are right even us lowly 4.8's turn over our stock tires with the brakes held. I you want to hook at the track get some Mickey Thompson E/T streets. It you want to hook on the street get a ford

Bigguy, I'm right there with you. I have trouble spinning mine. I don't get on it from a stop much, but I figure I should be able to when i do. Maybe it's the G80? Or really good stock tires (Firestone 285/16's)
