Do you think I'd get piston slap even with aftermarket pistons? I know the company that rebuilt it didn't use GM pistons.
I'll pm sizzle, get some ideas from him. Thanks for the info guys.

Let me ask this, is it even worth doing all this to a 4x4 2500 or should I get rid of it for a 2wd? I just like this truck since it already has the 6.0 and the 80e so it's kinda nice. I know a 2wd would be lighter and faster with this setup but that's a big swap and a lot of $$. I'm not worried about 4wd since I went all last winter with 2wd just fine.

Need some constructive criticism here. I have a list of mods I'll be doing over the next few months and into the winter. Let me know what you guys think, and the modding will happen in this order:
1) Long tube headers and ORY into single 3" magnaflow dumped
2)TR224, PAC 1218 or 1518 springs, 2800-3200 verter, LS7 litters (avoid the ticking)
3)My 317s P&P'd and milled (.040"?)
4)LS3 intake mani and throttle body
5)LS2 timing chain?
Any other input or rearranging the order I do this in would be helpful from you guys, and I already have some Comp 7.4"s sitting in my room. Thanks a lot.

Longer intake runners will give you a little more low end tq vs a short intake runner IIRC.
IF you were to do it id say go with a good cam of your choice, either pnp your heads like they said or pick up a new Stg. 2.5 set cause that will give ya more anything over that isnt reccomended for stock bore at least from what ive read and that will pick it up alot.
While your there replace your springs if you didnt buy new heads and do the LS7 lifters or the comp reduced travel lifters that keep from pumping up in the higher RPM's and top it off with the TBSS intake and as he said LS3 tb(or you could have the intake pnp'd and go with either a pnp'd LS3 tb or an aftermarket nick williams or something).
That will have you lovin life and then when ya wan more just do the Aux trans cooler(i would plumb this in line with your factory cooler so it will keep things cool in the summer but let it get up to proper operating temps in the winter), converter, shift kit, and gears front and rear and your set. Of course have it tuned for everything but you know that. I would reccomend doing at least the shift kit and cooler with everything else if you dont do the converter and gears as well cause it will play a factor in your trans staying happy.
If im off in anything people can correct but i figured thats a good aim.

So its not crucial to have a higher stall cam with a cam? I was thinking a stall would really make the biggest difference out of all those mods. I know I can get a factory 2800 stall out of a G2500 box van that has a 4.8/4l80e combo, would that be worth it?
