Default Help me build an exhaust for this 427 TVS truck

Would like to hear from you on the best way to design a true dual exhaust for this truck which is currenly choked by a catted 2.5 to 3" y-pipe.

I was thinking if I should go with 100cell 3" high-flow cats (vs current 200cell 2.5") and throw in a Dynomax dual 3" inlet dual 3" outlet internal x-pipe muffler, and two resonators before the tips.

or

dual 100cell high-flow cats, an x-pipe, dual Magnaflow straighthrough mufflers and small bullet mufflers at the back.

The first option would be the lighter one (better) and cheaper as well. The problem is im not sure how either one would sound

That ultraflo X muffler really sounds crappy, I heard it on a 6.0 and a 6.1 jeep and it made a awful awful noise, I would suggest another choice.

I wouldn't use cats at all with that many cubes PLUS forced induction, unless you must have them with your local laws.

I could take the off, Im afraid the exhaust gets raspy though, any ideas? Plus do you guys think there would be any power to had by going cat less?

Going catless compared to hi-flow cat will not change the hp output much, but the cats will help control the exhaust tone a bit.

Maybe run some cutouts. Stainless Works can custom make a muffler for you with a 3" inlet and dual 3" outlets, you can determine the length to help out with sound.

If I can help let me know, I can provide a special price for the forum customers.

I'd be going with say a 3.5" y-pipe into a 4" single. Or dual 3.5"

Thanks for the reply. Do you think its possible to build me a complete true dual exhaust for my 1500 Silverado regular cab? If you could ull make my life much easier

Im thinking a true dual 3" exhaust would be the best, not a single three inch is killing it to say the least.

Blackcash, any reason why you prefered a ypipe instead a true dual + xpipe?

We can do a custom one off exhaust but typically that is not cost effective, it takes a number of man hours to complete as well as time taken away from our normal production schedule. I would be glad to sell you tubing, tips and mufflers for a DIY kit.
