No loss in low end... I didnt say that exactly. I'm sure it may make a bit less torque at 400 rpms. Maybe less at 1000 rpms. But since even the stock converter stalls 1600, I'd bet its making more power at that point.

People (and comp) say their 212/218 or 208/212 cams make good torque. I know the 212 makes great power. My stated 208/208 has less total duration than the 208/212 so it has less overlap for more low end power. But the high lift will give the cam more lungs to extend power longer and stronger than the low lift versions.

I said the XE high lift 208 because its the smallest lobe Comp has on that XE high lift line. If they offered a 206 or 204, then I might have chosen one of them. I'd be 100% confident that a 204 204 high lift would be a torque freak if it were an option.

I've been tempted to give it a shot in my tahoe just for giggles.

I hear you Tex, but my converter doesn't 'stall' at 1600 RPM's. Brake stall maybe, but flash stall doesn't go anywhere except maybe 900 RPM's when I get on the gas. And I think this guys said he wants torque off the line...I doubt he wants to have to brake stall to get it.

I agree about the Comp lobes...it's a shame the XE's don't come in 206 variety or lower. I'm stuck between a Comp 208/214+4 (their smallest XE) and a Cam Motion 205/211+4 for a blower cam, mainly because I don't care to deal with an aftermarket stall. I'm leaning toward the Cam Motion cam, at least tonight I am...

drop a stock ls6(z06) cam in it. you'll still get a good balance between more power and drivability.

check out october 2004 issue of car craft. lingenfelter got a 5.3 to 413 crankshaft horsepower with only a cam 9(229/242 on 114.5)and headers.

I think you forgot something. I haven't read the article, but I doubt it has the stock stall in it. I'd like to see how driveable it is.

it is on the dyno. you would need a 2800 plus to make it handle on the street.

your right it lost an average of 20 numbers bellow 3000rpm. but then started making some serious power. this would be a good drag motor with a high stall but thats about it.

in the november issue they added the ported heads and LSX manifold and it picked up another 40peak numbers and also helped put some more area under the curve

Well considering it makes all of its power above 3000 RPM, while most of us spend 90% of our time below 3000 RPM...I'm sure the article contains some interesting information, but nothing usable for someone building a daily driver.

Not really sure why you're in this thread.
