Default Help me find a good setup

Gotta 99 ls1 motor. Gonna be doing a cam swap with springs and rods and a stall converter and tune. Using my truck intake too. and 8.1 injectors.

I want something streetable but something nice at the track too. like 13s. with tire and locker of course

Would like to eventually be able to slap a set of heads on it and crank out 400 hp.

This is a daily driver so gas mileage needs to stay somewhere normal. So no HUGE stall.

Can anyone recommend me a cam and stall setup easily streetable and tuneable.

This is is an 04 silverado reg cab.

Thanks for any replies im no good with this. i can bolt it in though

Exactly the kind of suggestions im looking for. Thank you.

Any idea how this cam would work out in a ls1? I can get one fairly cheap
Comp Cam. 224/228 .533/.538 113+4 LSA

Also will it work with ls6 springs and have a noticeable lope?

The LS6 springs would work since the lift is so low and I'm sure that those aren't Comp's aggressive lobes, and it should have enough lope to hear, even in a 346. I wouldn't use any less than a 3200 converter with that set up though, which I know is a concern of yours.

Are you looking for less tq converter? About how high a stall are you willing to go? You might not get the lope that you're looking for as you go smaller, but you can always just turn the idle down to achieve that

On the milder side, I'd recommend something like a 220/224 .57x/.57x on a 112-115, with a 2800-3K converter. (I'm planning on a similar setup in my LQ9 which is sitting on a cradle in my dad's shop...TrickFlow 220/224 .575/.575 112, WCCH StageII 317 heads, and a Circle-D converter that should stall around 2800-3K behind a 6.0)

A little more midrange and upper RPM power could be had with a 224/22x cam with similar lift and LSA numbers, and a 3K-3200 verter.

If going more aggressive, I like pewterliftedz's recommendation of the Texas Speed 228r cam, spring, and pushrod Kit and a Circle D 3600 Stall, that cam and verter should be perfect together

A stock ls1 in your truck is capable of 13's if its set up right. Guys on Tech are running tr220's and making 370 wheel or more. For a mild setup I'd say something like one of Texas Speed's TSP 220 or 224 with a Yank SS3200 or SS3600. A TSP 220 with a 3200 stall will be very mild and should still net you close to high 12's.
