Default Help me get my exhaust to stop leaking

I got LPP long tube headers and ORY. I bought stainless band clamps because of the problems I've heard of people having with the U-bolt type clamps that came with it. I got under it last night while it was running and I could feel a lot of exhaust coming out of pretty much all of the joints where the clamps go. I tightened them down nearly to the point of breaking the bolts and it still leaks. How are you guys getting these things to seal up? I don't want to weld it because I need to be able to remove it. Any suggestions? Better clamps? Gasket maker?

wrap the pipe with aluminum foil and then clamp the band clamp over that.

Have some real flanges welded on.

Get some stainless T clamps.. Cut 2 3 small slices in the pipe that slides over the collectors, or slip join. Only make them as long or a touch shorter then the outer pipe slides on the inner pipe.. Space them evenly around the pipe, tighten them down..

I had the same problem with my LPPs. I bought t-bolt clamps, cut slits, still didn't seal. I used the u-bolt clamps for the time being. I'm buying some V-bands for the collectors in a week or so.

I was reading about the accuseal clamps and they mention cutting some slots in the outer pipe as well. I think I'm going to try the torca duraseals with some sealer. If they don't seal I'll cut slots. If it still doesn't seal I may get flanges welded on. and have the Y pipe welded together at the joint in the middle. I'd still be able to get it off by taking the crossmember out.

Do the slots. The reason it isn't sealing is due to shitty fitment. The slices will take care of the voids, will get you a complete seal, once they are compressed around the pipe..
I know I post this up alot, but I used the T clamps, slices when I made my Y pipe, it has held, with out a single leak or issue for over a year now.. Lap joints work fine when the fit is correct
