Default help with a TC selection

i have a LQ4 with a TR220 and 918 springs in an ex cab 4x4 .... the truck is lifted with 36" tires and 4.56 gears... and i want something that will make the truck stall good enough to get the most out of the came, but not too high that it is a pain to drive.

in a few months the truck should see 44" tires and 5.38 gears... so keep that in mind, and i cant change the future combo really cause i allready have the stuff, it isnt just an idea, it is somthing that WILL happen.

I was looking at the trail blazer stall.... but i just dunno about it... then i was kinda looking at the yank 3000, and the pi 2800.... but im still really lost where i should go with this... i want the truck to be very drivable. (yes i know thats an oxymoron with 44s) and i dont feel like selling my left ******** to afford it.

What do you guys think?

I would be really worried about a high stall with 4wheeling its going to raise your tranny temp alot probably around +90 when doing alot of 4wheeling. I would go with a stall under 3k and get one thats smaller (disc wise)they dont build as much heat. Then put a big *** tranny cooler on and an e-fan . I would go with the trailblazer should be right on.

it's a tough call. either one won't matter too much as a 60/65E won't last long with that much tire. i'd recomend at least a 3k stall though.

the gearing really reliefs some stress on the tranny... but if i had a 3k stall, would it be worthless offroad? i guess i basically need a stall i could tow with... since the tires are about the equivilant of towing/hauling.

and how would the trail blazer stall act? would it have better road/towing manners? without the extra heat?

the tb converter would probably do the job for you if you had the truck tuned to keep the tcc locked in as much as possible. unfortunatly it's going to be tough to get one to hold up with any kind of real stall. off road your truck will perform much better as long as you watch the trans temps.

so just go with the trailblazer TC and have tell the tuner to have it lock up as much as possible?

whats the STR on it? will i get any more torque from the mod, or just get a higher stall out of the swap

Thanks for all the replies so far

so you don't have to watch your trans. temp. when off roading you would be better off with the tb convert if you want more stall out of it send it to a convert shop and get them to tune it up.they will go up to a 2800 stall and you are keeping the same size convert 12.5 or 13 inches

Call PI and some of the others and talk with them about EXACTLY what your truck is and has and what you want out of it. From experience, make sure THEY know what you want. I thought I was getting a 3000 "brake-stall" and it ended up at only 2300-2400. Make sure you know what the "brake-stall" and the "flash-stall" will be before you give them your credit card...
