Default HELP! WHat would YOU do?!?

OK I am in the process of 2 builds. I have a mint condition 01 Z71 Roller with no motor and I have my 1998 Z28 Camaro with 160k miles on it that I have had apart and I was going to rebuild and upgrade. I bought a 6.0L out of a 05 Escalade that was supposed to be going in the 01 Z71 Silverado. Wellll, right now I have BOTH MOTORS on engine stands. The 5.7L on one and the 6.0L on the other, both full of accesory drives for each thing. My dilemma is should I 6.0L the car and 5.7L the truck? The truck is my DD the camaro is weekend warrior. Is there a big gain doing the 6.0L in the car and can I make the 5.7L work in the truck? I appreciate any input!! Also I have the all the wiring harnesses that I would need to do any which way I believe. The truck was a factory 5.3L, I have that complete intake and accesory drive, and harness and computer. I have full LS1 stuff, and I also have the compelte 6.0L harness, computer, intake etc (was pain - intake and harness buy).

I really wanna do the 6.0L in my camaro as I know how to make that work, but the question at hand is can I make the 5.7L work in the truck? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks guys!!

Yea you can make the 5.7L work in the truck. I don't even think you need to change the harnesses. I would put the 6.0L in the camaro with some ported heads and cam and it would run great. GL

The 6.0L has 317 heads the LS1 5.7L has 806's. The truck is just going to be stock and I am buying heads and cam for the camaro, this being said are the 317's better then 806's and should I put them on the 5.7L to go in the truck? The reason I wanted to do that is my LS1 heads have 150K on them and are neglected and disgusting and etc, the 317's only have about 70K and are in much better shape.

Thanks again!

The 317's are great heads. I think they flow close to the 243's but the have a bigger combustion chamber. If you want to buy new heads for the 6.0L, then the 317's would run great on the ls1. You could even mill them some to raise the compression. If you went that route, what would you for heads on the 6.0?

Yea you could put those on the 6.0 and the 317 on the ls1. That would work just fine.

317 on a LS1 would be a DROP in compression

Exactly 314s have 71.07 combustion chamber. 806s have 66.67 combustion chamber
