It's his daily driver. If you are worried about the drop in compression, just have the heads milled. Your not looking to make a lot of power with the truck right? Thats what the camaro is for.

To answer question of the OP you can use the LS1 in the truck, use the truck intake, acc drive, and truck harness. 806 heads are perimeter bolt valve cover, honestly I'd throw em away and buy a set of 853 or 241 heads, $150 per set on ebay is pretty common.

You wouldn't use the 317s on the LS1? What if I throw a cam in there, I have a gm performance hot cam that I had in the 5.3 that was in the truck laying around, would that help if i used the 317s?

Cam won't make up the compression loss. If it were my engine I would not use the 317's on the LS1, and the hot cam is horrible with the stock converter.

On the subject, I have a set of 241 heads with springs I'd sell you. They're off of an LS1, came with the motor when I bought it and I'm not going to reuse them. I'm going to clean them up with some simple green and oven cleaner tonight and take some pictures.

PM me if interested.

Well I have the truck yank tt3000 converter that I used with the 5.3 but i really dont wanna cam the truck anyways, its going to be towing my vehicles and boat. (Very rare occasions but still.) What would the 241's do for me as far as compression?

Another question, what motor makes more power completely stock 5.7 or 6.0 and which is easier to build and make more power in long run. Why is 6.0L better then 5.7, I know it has bigger bore and larger rods and stuff but does it being iron block and heavier make it worse in anyway?

I really don't understand all the fuss on the compression. Spend the $45 to mill the heads and be done with it.

It all depends on what you want out of the vehicles. I thought the goal with the truck was reliable daily driver, and the camaro was the weekend warrior..?

Both use the same identical rods with a 3.622 stroke. LS1 with 241 heads is 10.3 and LQ4 with 317 heads is 9.5, both in stock configuration make almost identical power.
