Default High Mileage Cam Swap

As of right now, the truck has 112,000 miles on it. I am looking at 212/218 114 LSA with LS6 springs. I plan on doing the install myself and I am wondering what would be the disadvantages of leaving the stock timing chain and stock poushrods? I'm not as much concerned about the pushrods as I am the timing chain. Am I asking for catastrophic failure by not changing the chain, or is it just something thats a good idea once you have the engine apart? Has anyone had problems by just leaving the stock timing chain.

How many miles on your Cam? Also, if you are selling your springs I'd be more than happy to get the package deal.

I would be more worried about re-using the stock pushrods than the stock t-chain. They seem to be prone to bending. There are a bunch of people on here who are still on the stock t-chain at over 100K with bigger than stock cams.

On a side note since you have a 2wd it's not suppose to be all that hard to change the t-chain and an ls2 chain is only ~$25.

You should do the pushrods any time you do a cam swap on one of these motors, as the stockers are weak, and the aftermarket cams have a smaller base circle. Get a set of good hardened 7.4 pushrods from Comp or Thunder Racing. As for the timing chain, you could go either way. Personally, on an engine with high miles I'd do the chain and oil pump as some cheap insurance since you're in there. I did my cam swap at 37k on my well maintained engine though, and left the chain and pump alone. I'm at 55k now with no problems, but theres a big difference between 37 and 110k for sure.

Where can someone get an LS2 chain that cheap?

What's the part # for it? Is it 12586482? The description is vague. Also is it just the chain or chain with new sprockets?

I believe thats it, and it is just the chain, NO sprockets. It isn't specifically called an LS2 chain on SDPC'c website.
