nope not the alternator, I put my ear almost touching it and its not coming from there, although I do agree it sounds electrical.

GMC, how do you figure its the blower? this is much higher pitched and the blower isnt under any load and the sound doesnt change with rpm.

Put it INdoors and Get some carb cleaner and spray around the intake and lines. Listen for it to rev and watch for the mist to be sucked toward the engine. Check around the valve covers too.

God that sounds EXACTLY like the oil pump failure alarm on the STS systems. It barely even sounds mechanical, almost like your alarm or something...

So tell me this isnt weird....I go out there to fiddle around some hose or see if there is anything obvious going on around the valve covers, and there isnt a single peep from that noise. Whatever it was is completely gone...maybe it only does it when the engine is warm?....

Oil pressure is 50+ at idle also.

I know when I forgot to connect the vacuum line on the passenger side valve cover on royces truck, it made a loud noise that did not fluctuate or change pitch with RPM.

I dont have HIDS though

its not the intercooler pump either, that just has a low hum to it.

I made sure to check that hose and its fully seated in the valve cover and the intake tube fitting.
