Default HOLY SHAT! Broke A Valve Cover Bolt Into Heads PLEASE HELP!

I can't believe it. I wasn't even putting much stress on the bolts at all, I was going to torque to specs, and didn't even get there and the damn bolt just snapped! It's broke off flush in the head. That's just the kinda luck I have. All of this weak aluminum **** is pissin me off. If i drill it out, then I'll proally screw the threads up inside the head. I'm stuck until you guys can help me out!

I just snapped a headbolt off in the shortblock so its not as bad as I had it this weekend (new shortblock). Have you ever extracted a bolt? If not, take the truck to a reputeable machine shop and they can more than likely get it out! Calm down and worry not, its not as bad as you think.

do a search for a tool called an "easy out" if you can get a drill on it, that might be your best bet, plus you will not be goobering up the head itself.

YEA! I can't believe it actually went that smooth. I drilled it out, wedged a ease in there and unscrewed the bolt. I bet I was .00005 mm from the threads on the head with the drill, it scared the crap outta me! Anyways, on with the build of the beast! THANKS GUYS

I broke a head bolt off in the block about 6" deep while doing the final round of tightning. Took me about 2 hours to rig up a long enough ease out. Later as I broke a second one it took about 15 minutes to get it out.

There are special drill bits made for this, they have left hand threads. Sometimes the bolt comes out while you are drilling it, then you don't even have to use an ez out
