damn this sucks....i took mine out and i can feel a difference but as you just said it will go away....is this going to cause a problem with my pcm and motor? and if it is how can i get my screen back in there? can you just buy a screen and put it in there? or am i going to have to buy a new MAF?

1 friggin pony. I wouldnt even take the 2 seconds to spit on an AC belt if someone told me that doing it prior to a race would add 1 friggin horse. Hell, just run synthetic oil and you'll pick up more than that.

I heard about removing it from a radio show/mechanic/shop owner. He's a big-time Chevy lover and seems to have a lot of knowledge,in general, about car problems. Doesn't mean he can't be wrong about the screen, though. I didn't notice any difference in performance and I did it some time after I put on the FIPK.

it has been out for 6 months and i have had no problems with it being out that all of you describe on here, not running lean, not running rough, not shifting weired, i took it out when i installed the headders and dueled out the truck, i don't know what you all are experenceing with your trucks, but it is not happening with me on my truck.
it is a 2000 sportside with a 4.8 at 106000 miles

I did it on my '99, no noticeable gain, except for the gain in pinging when I ran 87 octane in it. No way in hell I'll do it on the '04.

as far as a gain 35% more air flow at WOT with less resistance, the screen acts like an air dam, why run a k&n filter to improve air flow if your just going to keep the screen to hold it back.
I'm just wondering were you came up with these numbers 35% seems like a good number to not be able to feel anything. I did it, got NO gain and would be willing to trade mine to any one who wants to do this for a stock one. Needs to be an 02 5.3.
