i have an 03 i'm selling. 4.8 ext cab. no mods but a grille. 36k miles. Only reason its so high is b/c i live in NY and go to school in michigan year round. I make a lot of 3-4 day weekend trips home and each one is 1600+ miles. At school the car just sits. I also just recent drove from michigan to NC to VA to NY to MI again which put on about 3000lbs. these are ALL highway miles.

I am gonig to bite the bullet and get a diesel b/c it will save me $1500 a year in gas ( i drive 30k miles a year). I've never towed anything, hardly ever haul anything.
I need $19,500 FIRM if you are intrested. also has 100k mile warante and Z71 package. It was $31 or32k new a year ago not including the 100k warante

To answer your question about towing, it depends on how big of a trailer you are going to tow. I've never had a 5.3 but with the right mods, your 4.8 can tow just as well or better than a stock 5.3. Mine does really well with the mods I have (check signature). I average about 12-13 mpg towing about a 4500-5000 boat. In the area around here in Ft Worth I leave it in OD and it pretty much stays there. It doesn't lug down on hills very much and holds its own very well. Hope that helps you out.
