well ive been looking at getting a 01 or 02 silverado, dont want to spend more then about 6 or 7k, the v6's are alot cheaper, my plan is to do a ls1 swap in it, what would i have to do for the swap? just wiring harness and motor mounts or what? would accesories swap over or not? thanks fellas

You're looking at completely replacing your drivetrain because the V6 is based off the older style. Nothing will swap over, the transmission will not bolt directly up without spacers and even then holes will be missing, and you'll need to either modify your existing harness or have a new one made. The V6 to V8 swap is by far much more involved than the guys going from 4.8's to 6.0L's, for example.
Good luck!

You will not save money by purchasing a v6 over a v8 model if you plan to do a swap.
Its not a hard swap at all, just need a few parts

I did the swap and am running the 4.3L 5 speed transmission and I believe everything but the starter swapped from one to the other. I did have to get the bracket that holds on the alternator and power steering, but all that fit. I didn't attempt putting my a/c back on. I would have had to buy new v8 hoses and just didn't feel like it. I don't know how different years vary, but mine was a 2000 4.3L swapped to a 2000 6.0L. On the 2000 6.0L, the crankshaft stuck out a little bit further (I believe it was 30 thousanths). I haven't had a problem with that, being that I have a manual transmission, but might be a problem if automatic. I'm going to get my flywheel turned down that 30 thousanths the next time I have it apart to compensate, but not in any rush. When I bought the engine, I made sure it had a complete wire harness and computer. When trying to buy that separate, it gets pretty expensive.
