How high can you rev a basically stock 5.3?

think mine's about 6100, but it's cam'ed/spring/p-rod.
rev'ing a stock 5.3 much beyond isn't going to get you much, just a lot of strain IMO.

with stock cam mine was dropping off at around 5800 i don't see why you would need to turn it much more than that especially with the crappy push rods

Yeah mine seems to drop off past 5800 also, but I just thought it's making more power at 6000 than it is at 3600 or so. Also thought that it would help with the shift extension, so those were my main reasons for wanting to push it a little farther.

I've got a Crane cam, dual springs, and upgraded pushrods. Was shifting at 6200 but started getting lifter tick. (Stock lifters.) Now shifting at 6100. 195,000 miles on the engine. Have noticed via HPTuners scanner that with same programmed shift points, engine revs higher at WOT shifts in warmer weather.

If your stock camin it, I would set the shifts at 6k... This 6.0 might be for sale soon Have a forged motor going together.. I am am shifting at 6250 with the current setup...

I don't think the stock pushrods are that weak. My brother ran his stock pushrods with a 221 .558 cam revin it to like 6800 rpm for like 2 years... no problems...
