well I am building a 5.3 to swap in. It is going to be a cammed full bolt on. Tranny wise will be 3200 stall and corvette servo, and the transcooler. It is a rebuilt 4l60 that is built stock. Once it goes I am swapping in a 4l80. See I work at a auto parts store, so I can get this cooler for about 30$. Would it be worth it?

I'd say in that case go with the Hayden since you're not going to keep the 4L60 to long. When you do the 4L80 go with the 40K this way you won't have debris flowing through the better cooler when the 60 dies. Does your cluster have the temp gauge???

I would love to run a aftermarket gauge up through

If you swap the cluster for one from a 03+ Escalade, Denali or SS Silverado the trans gauge will work with no other parts necessary. I did a 02 Escalade cluster for my 2000 and I love the functioning trans gauge, 120 speedo and updated look.

Like posted above ^^^ spend the extra dough on the 40K. I had a Hayden 1403 (slightly smaller than the 679) supplied by my transmission builder (required for warranty). On hot summer days I would see 200* plus. While higher temps won't immediately hurt the transmission over time it will slowly cook the seals, o-rings and fluid.

Hayden 1403

Tru-Cool 40K

Agree

10 years ago I put the largest tube and fin cooler (the same style as the one in the first picture) on my SS with a 3800 stall, I even bypassed the radiator. And I saw over 200 degrees even at night on the highway in the summer.. I was not happy with that cooler it didn't seem to work very well at all.
I don't know the part number but it was larger than the one in your picture, they said it was for RV's.

Bottom or top doesn't matter. It works either way.

Gm use to offer a complete kit with new lines and cooler. Not sure if they are still available.
