I've heard that a disintegrating G80 can take out a tranny.....that's why my Eaton is going in on Friday.

does anyone have one of these rearends laying around they would like to get rid of. i am wanting to do a rearend swap to get the posi and the better gear. so if anyone knows of a rear end anywhere let me know

Beats me. I wasted the 11.5 on mine. Of course I have a wee bit more torque to deal with than the average truck.

Do they either work or break? what I mean is, can they slowly go out, or will you know the second it happens. I am asking because in my truck, if I take a turn fast and try to kick the rear out, I do a one wheel peel instead. But I also heard that they don't engage over 20mph. Any thoughts? Thanks.

hmmm. My turbo buick has a g80 in it and has been 10.12@133 mph at 3700 lbs..Not broke one yet...Over 70k miles...

How much does your truck weigh? I'm guessing you come in under the 3 tons (6,000 lbs) that James B. and I put to the ground.
