I've got my fans coming on at 175/180.... and it never even kicks them on high idling with a/c on in the summer heat... I cruise at 163-164 ECT, and if I can keep it in the 170's in the staging lanes with no issue...

LT1 fans, 34" radiator, 160 T stat and a switch to override the fan harness and kick them on high when I want to. Other than that, they operate just like stock.

Just like I've said to you numerous times in threads, PM,s text messages, in person, and on the phone...

YOU HAVE TO GET AWAY FROM "STOCK" THINKING OR YOU'LL NEVER GET WHAT YOU WANT OUT OF IT ON THE TRACK...... tuning wise, noise, driveability, parts etc... There's a reason there's an aftermarket. Because STOCK doesnt cut it when youre trying to go fast!!!

Its also been proven that while spendy, an electric water pump will keep the engine much cooler in a non-running situation and cool it back down faster because the ability to run the pump/fans with the engine off and circulate and cool coolant sitting still Its not quite as reliable as stock I'd say (longevity wise) and its a high dollar cooling system upgrade for us so I doubt you'd ever go that route...

I run 05+ fan, and a 34in rad. also 2 bottles of water wetter, mine ECT stays where i have my fans to kick on... Also i have a manual switch, but mine cools down rather quickly when the truck is not running...

I never had a problem with my old LS1 Efans and 28" radiator, the temps stayed where i had them set in the tune. But towing a heavy trailer at 45mph with the converter unlocked for a long distance say on a back road the temps would creep up to 210 but thats it.

Now with the 34" radiator and fans ive never gotten the temps to go over 190 no matter what im doin and they very rarely kick on high.

I do have 2 manual over ride switchs for low and high but never use them anymore with the big rad..

Whats your temps set at in your tune?

You need to hook up Fan 1 and Fan 2 to the PCM instead of Fan 2 to the AC wire.
And do the BB mod to your Tstat.. i ran mine for years with no problems and its just a lil cheaper than a 160* Tstat

On is at 192 and off is 190.

As for the fans, I've got to ditch this 1 pin harness so I can get control over the high speed thru the PCM.

The shitty thing is it was just a little over 70 degrees last night....so imagine this thing in mid summer heat...

That's too close of a spread for on off temps, your fans must cycle like crazy...or just kicking on and staying on since you're seeing 214 ECT's...I like at least a 7* temp spread personally. Are you running the stock stat?

With my 160* stat I'm *supposed* to be set at 180* on and 173* off, but after monitoring it with a scan tool it's actually 177* on and 170* off, which is a little too cool from what I've learned here. Just sent my PCM out to Justin at BlackBear and he knows my mods, so I'm curious to see where he sets my fans.

As for the 05 fans and 34" rad, I love mine, I've never seen coolant temps go over low 180's...it creeped up to 190 one 98* day last summer, and I simply turned on my manual high switch that I wired in and the temps came right back down to around 175 which is where it usually runs with the current configuration.
