I'm getting a cam with .530/.530 lift soon and need to know how much lift the 2001 LS6 springs will handle.

The 2001 LS6 cam has .525 lift.
The 2002 LS6 cam has .550 lift.

Get the 02 LS6 springs to be safe.

 

The 02 springs were also made for the longer and lighter sodium filled valves of the 2002+ LS6.

 

2002 LS6 Cam - 204/217 .551/.547 on 117lsa (w/ 2* retard ground in i have heard)
VS.
2001 LS6 Cam - 204/218 .525/.525 on 116lsa


2002 LS6 springs have 290lbs. on open load
VS.
2001 LS6 springs have 259lbs. on open load

The '01 springs should be fine, but if you are going to rev prety high (5800 semi often) then you might consider '02 LS6 springs for peace of mind. Especially if you don't mind valve "ticking" noise too much.

PS. were you the guy who emailed me asking about camshafts a while ago? Just curious...
