Default How much power out of stock fuel pump.

How much HP will the stock fuel pump support? I don't have a fuel pressure gauge so I was wondering if it is worth putting a higher voulume one in.

~450rwhp, i dynoed 430rwhp and the presure was starting to drop off just a little but i am using alot of power to run my driveline.

fuel pump is cheap insurance, only like $120 or so, i would just do one to be safe.

Well I am thinking I will be in the 400-410 rwhp being NA, but I will look at putting one in am maybe a pod gauge with a pressure gauge in it. Keep things from going again.

I should be using as almost as much to run my driveline I would think. excab vs reg cab = longer driveshaft, more rotating mass. Plus I am turing a little heavier tire 285/75 with 4.10's I am figueing around 25% loss or so.

What about with a NOS kit with 125 hp? Would a fuel pump be needed for anything more than that?

on a 5.3, no. with a 6.0, maybe but probably not.

on a stock 6.0 i couldn't run the 175jets without loosing presure, with a cam and open exhasut i can't run the 150jets without loosing presure.

stock 5.3 should be ok to at least 150jets

I added a 255 lph fuel pump from an f-body into my truck. They are like 129 from summit i think. Just have to modify the housing a little is all.

This dyno was done on stock injectors and fuel pump. This is a heads / cam Silverado SS with a direct port system. The restrictive exhaust and intake caused the hard drop in power on the top end on the nitrous run.

Yes, A/F ratio was on the rise, but the stock system did make alot more than mid 400 rwhp. A/F was about 12:1 early on, then rose to 13:1 by 6000 rpms when he got out of it.

Nope stock pump and injectors. Had heads cam shorty headers and a flowmaster. No intake or other bolt-ons. Guy brought in the truck to that shop with a whipple and the exhaust. He said it wasn't performing like the whipple claims. They sold him on heads, cam and nitrous, then pulled the whipple. Of course it has LS1 Edit tuning. If I remember correctly, it made about 400 TQ with the baseline whipple dyno, but not much over 300 rwhp.
