Default How much is too much?

How much compression is too much for an LQ9 going into a 01 Tahoe? Been looking at somewheres about 11.6-12:1. Too high for a 408 stroker?

Looking at this cam - Comp LSr cam

I think i would build it to have around 11.5:1. should run on 93 with that cam. What gears and stall are you planning?

I got a 2700 stall when I got my 4L60 Rebuilt a few weeks ago (running on the 5.3 still). Don't really want to buy another if I dont have too. This will be my DD, a few miles a day most days. 1 week a month I drive carpool 100 round trip, so need to keep that in mind. If I need to re-stall I will and gears, what need to be done needs to be done. Open to reccomendations!

I would think you need a stall bigger than a 2700.

thats a huge *** cam for a 6.0, and especially in a heavy tahoe, and especially with a little 2700 converter. DD that would suck *** IMO, it would be slow as hell.

Goin off your cam and compression ratio choice, i thought this was gonna be a mostly race set up. I think you need to rethink your cam choice. Also gonna need/want more converter with the longer duration cams. id go for about a 3600 stall. As for a cam id look for one in the 230s at .050 with a 408.

Can someone point me to a place where I can research/learn more about converter stall ratings? I understand the verry basic principals, but want to know more!

Who wants to help me design a fairly mean in town street toy that gets on the interstate every once in a while? I am looking to run higher compression LQ9! Totally open to advice as this will be my first ventrure building an engine and who better to ask the you wonderfully knowledgeable folks!

01 Tahoe LT - Bone stock 5.3 (AEM intake is all that is on it)---(building LQ9 starting in the comming weeks)
Not sure what the rear end gears are - but they are stock.
Newly rebuilt 4L60E - High perfromance rebuild with new 5 pinion planets and upgraded shell. (bought a 2700 stall converter when I picked it up, had to buy new converter for warrenty purposes) -Like I said, not opposed to new converter and gears if I need to, not to knowledgeabel in that area!!
Would like to no totally throw fuel econ. out the window, maby a multi program tune to help in that area?
