Default How much is too much or too little backpressure

This might sound a little stupid but I was wondering how much is too much backpressure and how much too little backpressure? How do you know when you have too much or too little? How do you measure that and with what? I there a place that can measure backpressure? I ask that because I want to add an exhaust to my truck but am afraid that after I do, I will not have enough backpressure. The plan is a Magnaflow x-pipe (2.5 in/out) with two SpinTech (2.5in/out) or Dynomax Ultraflow (2.5in/out) mufflers with turndowns. I know I want to open it up a little but not too much. Thanks for the help

it all depends, some people run with headers only.. thats prolly the least backpressure.

Id say your setup would be a little loss of backpressure, but whenever you do a good exhaust setup, it will usually flow better than stock, thus ='s less backpressure.

But, on the flipside.. you will notice a more pulling sensation in the higher RPMs.

I say go for it!

Go with the Ultra Flos.

The 5.3 engine is an absolute monster (right guys?) so I don't think you'll lose much/if any power down low in the powerband (if thats what you're worried about).

Monster for sure, I put exhaust on my 5.3 and didn't seem to lose any down low but had a noticeable gain up high, it pulls hard from 4,000-redline. Another vote for go for it.

I run headers with cutouts right after the collectors.
