Default How strong is a stock transfer case?

I've sprayed once before out of the hole in 4LO, but it yanked so hard my seat back broke and i ended up in the rear seat area.

Anyway, i have that fixxed and i dont think its happening again. I think the axles are strong enough to take the 4.3L with 75 shot, but I'm not sure about the transfer case.

The reason i want to know is because i have a race lined up against a new Cobra with a smaller pully, exhaust, intake, and a few other things. I think he may run a high 7 to low 8 in the 1/8th. In 4LO i top out at just over 80mph, so is i get off the line hard enough and can get up to speed i think i may have a chance. It would be some awsome braggin rights since this guy is the fastest in town, and if i beat him with a V6 chevy with just a 75 shot.

The Tcases are not that strong and were not design for such use. I know a lot of people use 4x4 launches on a 1/4 mile but 4lo lauchs on pavenmet adds even more stress to it yet beyond what it was designed for. You might lower your axle ratios a bit to get better jumps and reduced tcase stress.

i know that the HD trucks tcase are rated to 2500 ft. lbs. and they are still easily destroyed(trust me i know) as for a 4LO launch in a regular tcase,I think you are flirting with danger and i would not be suprised if it did not last much longer

i would not be doing that in 4lo but 4hi would probably last forever. i had a 4wd 90 s10 blazer that i put a ZZ3 crate motor in(v8 aluminum heads, roller cam) and hit that with a 125shot in 4hi and it took that many times. got it into the 13's wich wasn't too bad 10 years ago.

It is a Auto track, and the 4.3L with all my mods and a 75 shot will probibly only have 320RWTQ. So it should last through a glory run right?

Those babies are chain drive on front axle and that will stretch and break with time from such use or the planataries will fail, take your pick.
