I hope to trap close to that this year. Don't torque converters add mph? My best trap is 105.6 without the torque converter and the small drag radials I have on the back.
Im figuring a 3 mph increase in the 1/4 with a stall converter. At least thats what I have heard from everyone I have spoke to.

No, an agressive converter will give you a lower et from a good 60' but may scrub some mph up top. It really depends on the converter though.

As for the topic at hand. I also say it is going to be hard to reach that mph with a 4.8/5.3 without it being pretty much 'race prepped'. I think a 5.3 could do it but it would have to be a built motor with high compression, hogged out heads and a big cam not to mention the rest of the drive train would have to be perfect as well. I am trapping 102 in good weather with a mild h/c 5.3. It takes a good bit of power to make up 7mph with our weight and aerodynamics. However a 6.0 is a different story. A mildly agressive heads/cam package on LQ9 could very well trap 110 in a reg cab with minimal weight reduction and the right drivetrain setup.

Is it the actual shape of the truck or the height that hurts the aero.? If you had it planted on the ground, would mph pick up? Anyone try this?

I trapped 101 w/ a stock LS1 and a TR224 cam on a horrible 2.3 60'. I would think LSx or LQx motor'd RCSB w/ a little more cam and a decent set of heads should be able to trap 110. But echoing everyone else, you'd need an awesome suspension setup and a converter that doesn't eat away at your MPH on the big end.

I'd eventually like to trap in the mid-teens, but that's going to take a LOT more HP than I have right now.

And I would say that the frontal area has a lot to do w/ the poor aero of these trucks.

Lowering it will help decrease turbulance underneth the truck, thus reducing drag. It is still not enough to overcome the massive wall of air being pushed by the frontend. I saw a slight increase after lowering mine 2/4 back when I was only trapping around 92 but it really helps at higher speeds. I can imagine a 4/6 would be even better.

What does the term "trap" mean?

Is it top speed, or top speed in a given distance? Or what?

110 Is Possible To MPH 110 In 1/4 Mile With A 5.3,But I Don't Think It Will Be
Able To Be A Street Truck It Would Have To Be Build Motor.

I trap upper 11X N/A... I think the biggest problem for you guys is the shear weight of the newer trucks!
