currious. Itching towards an unintercooled radix setup for a little pep, not looking for anything crazy.

Spend the extra and get the intercooled kit. You'll regret not having it.

My stock 5.3 was in great shape when I installed the 403,but I had already killed 6-4L60E transmissions and installed a 4L80E.

It's not about the intercooler for the power...i mean it is but it isn't.
It's more of a safety precaution in a way plus some power.
Asupercharger gets hot.On a summer day it's gonna get even hotter.
When it gets hot and has nothing to cool the air goin into your motor your talking about unsafe power.Regardless!!!
That hot air on the right day can result in a blown motor from pinging and such.
The intercooler can reduce this by great degrees.
Not to mention the powerloss from a cool night to a hot day making you wonder what the deal is.
Wanting to run it hard or not the intercooler is something you shold get.If for anything at all the insurance of knowing your not gonna blow the motor from excessive heat build up causeing ping.

Its detonation not pinging that usually kills a blown motor.

Get the intercooler, havent you seen the trend on here? Everyone starts out only wanting alittle then end up with tons of ****.

Trey, you can save yourself a little money on the kit if you elect not to use Magnusons electronics. That is if you are using a custom tuner. Probably save you about $300.
I would not however skimp on the kit by not using the intercooler. It is much needed on the LQ9. You want to keep IAT temps down as much as possible. The intercooler will also keep your engine running effeciently under boost without having to worry about KR. You can then have your tuner detune it a bit to run safe PCM parameters for everyday driving.
Good luck Trey.

Jim
