HPtuner help needed in NH.

Hey DanaliHD, I also just got into my HPTuner stuff. I was expecting a little more info with the software and cable. Got absolutely nothing, not even installation instructions. I hooked it up and made the "normal" adjustments for my application with no issues. The narrow band ( stock O2 ) readings are what is getting me. I know they recommend wideband to get best tuning but hey, the $500 for the software is already eating into the budget. I emailed GMCSki for some advice but he is wanting some cash for real tuning help. I understand his time is valuable but for what he wants I will struggle along.

You guys should drive around while logging with your HPtuners software. Post the logs,and someone will probably be bored enough to take a look at them and recommend some adjustments. Really though, the software isn't that difficult to use. The help menu will automatically go to the page for the menu you are looking at when you click help. Also, after you look at your current tune and some of the log data, some of the options will become more obvious. It just requires a bit of reading.

No the software isn't that difficult, unless you have no knowledge of how these trucks work, like myself. I can use the tuner, but don't know what to look for, or what adjusting something will do.

Since there is so many of us truck guys in the ME,NH,MA area we should get together at Epping one night. I am looking into HPtuners as well and it would be nice to know someone with it to swap ideas and questions.

sounds like a plan. I'm only about 20min from epping. I played with the tuner yesterday. It was running like crap, until I stopped and floored it. I laid a patch about 100ft long.

Sorry for the hijack but I'm living in Newmarket right now (UNH student). I have an '04 Silverado with a Gibson on it. I have some experience with computer programming and a few years of gearhead experience (motor swaps, snowcross racing etc). If you want to meet up sometime to take a look at it I would love to see the program in person. Actually I would love to just go for a ride in your truck DanaliHD Anyways just let me know. ~josh

Yeah, if you guys want to meet up somewhere, I'll gladly help with whatever I can.
I'm proficient with the IFR table, shift points, shift speeds, all of TM... I can make changes to the PE table, but that's a pretty touchy subject - I really feel as though a wideband is needed, but I CAN make a relatively 'safe guess' based off of IFR changes.
HO timing is very easy, but it's almost impossible to do in a very short period of time. I can copy my tables and you can compare them to yours... or just throw my HO table in place of yours if you want... I think mine's pretty tame.
From what I hear, Dez Racing is a great shop. Look up LightningKiller here (spelled soemthing like LTNKLR?) He's got a nasty truck that they do a lot of work on. They tune with Edit, but I really don't see HPT being a problem with them.
I had _NO_IDEA_ there was a dyno in Worcester. DAM! I'm right down the road from there. I'll have to stop by and make a run or two one of these days.
Also, I've been meaning to get up to NED soon... so I suppose that could be a meeting spot...

Cool... Actually - I'll be up NED on Oct 10th to check out a friend doing some bracket racing. Supposedly it's also a open test and tune session. I'm not sure if that's too far down the road for you guys - just throwing the idea out there.

i'll second that. mike knows what he's doing when it comes to gassers- i don't see why he would have much trouble tuning a truck.
