Talking I got a 4.8 rst and is trying to get more power

One of the guys in my truck club wants to know how to get more power out of his truck. His truck has a manuel transmission and he says that in 3 gear it feel like it has no power. I told him about the sts turbo setup and doesnt know if we should get it or find another turbo setup. If anyone knows any other setups or tricks to get more power out of it? I have already told him about cams and gears and he wants to get them but he want's to try a tubo set up.

I can't speak much for the sts on a 4.8 since i've never been in one but when I put the radix on mine it was pretty fun. Now the best easy and quick mod from there would be to do a 3.25" pulley on the Radix and a custom tune. I highly recommend that. That will give you 11.5lbs boost on a stock cam and exhaust. I'd estimate that combo to be around 450 hp @ the flywheel.

Some type of supercharger would be better with the manual tranny. Unless he's throwing full power shifts, he'll have a little flat spot after each shift. If he is throwing full powershifts with that stock clutch and tranny, it won't last long. Turbos usually work better in front of an auto tranny. The supercharger will maintain power a little easier after every shift.

the truck has shorty headers and the ss exhaust tips out the roll pan and he does have the under drive pulleys on the truck when he got it. the book that i got has shown a front mount turbo and the company that makes it is wheel 2 wheel turbos and i need to find them. And i have a 5.3 silverado with very little mods done to the truck and I'm looking for some stock heads to buy and port.

That tranny won't like any power adder. I was killing them with a stock 4.8. A procharged 4.8 ( 18lbs of boost) split the 5 speed in half.

That is a lot of boost. I went a 12.58 @109 mph on the stock clutch and stock 5 speed. It was a cam, long tubes, radix with 13lbs boost.
