I just hate to ask this, because I know some of you guys get tired of it, and I know that there's no real way of knowing. I just don't want to get my hopes up. Oh yeah, the DA gets up to about 5000-5500ft here, so that should help educate your guess.

 

with the custom paint, and shaved etc( cuts down on wind resistance )I would say a 14.9 the 20's are gonna slow you down a couple of tenths.

 

You know it, and it's gonna be clean too! I figured the 20's would kill me, I might put the 16" stockers back on, but their real skinny and it'll be funny looking.

But I could live with high 14's!

 

So.....how does a 4.8 do with a HOT cam ???, did it lose a bunch off the line (I'm assuming you have the stock converter)

 

No, I don't have the stock converter. I have the TCI SF3000. The hotcam is pretty big in a 4.8, real lumpy idle. I don't know if GM under-specs these or what? I didn't put it on a cam doc, so I don't know, but you can feel the 228* duration though. I didn't notice any loss of lowend at all! The converter is loose below 2500-ish, so who knows. But above 3000 there's no comparision to the stock one.

 

I would guess 14.7-14.8, quicker if you can get the short times into the 1.9-2.0 range.

 

I agree... high 14's... Maybe mid 14's if you do some serous weight reduction...

 

I think if the DA is 5000 ft, you'll be in the mid /low 15's.

Seriously though, that cams duration split looks really good for nitrous applications ..

maybe one day you can give it a small dose to see how it likes it, good luck man.

 

That's what I figured with the DA and all. But who knows? I'm going to run this Friday at SIR. I want to go on a road trip though to a sea level track and kick some ***. I'll probably just use the NHRA correction factors and dream.
