I got 13/21 with the handheld and another 16/13 with smoothing out the a/f
thats a 29/34 tune that i can put on or take off in 15min.
I am not saying that a handheld is better than a mail order tune, just that a handheld can give a stock 5.3 some good gains and alot of tuning options for the 300.00 price tag.

As far as handhelds go, I had the Crane tuner for a little while and was very impressed with it...definite SOTP gains. But my PCMforLess tune is even better, and was about $100-$150 cheaper than the handheld.

check with your local dyno they most likely have guys they know that dyno tune trucks and cars with HP. you can get more power from a professional dyno tune than any handheld or mail order. they guy i'm getting mine done with is $200 plus dyno time and get free updates. every engine is different and needs different timing and A/F ratio so the best way is a dyno tune, anything else is just a guess at what would make the most power
