If you have a 454 you could just throw a big carb on it for pretty cheap. Those engines make gobs of low-end torque. I cant really help there though, carbs are before my time
Oh and the burnout in my signature is with a 5.3 on 35" tires after I tuned it myself. There is a lot to be had with tuning. Heres 2 guys that could set you up nicely on your new truck and the wifes tahoe. And yes its definitely worth it. Both actively post here as well.

There are no "chips" any more. Just a handheld, mail order tune, or custom tune.
The mods in my signature make my 03 5.3 extended cab fun to drive. I turned off of my friends road today in a hurry and set it sideways down the road a ways. Wasn't trying to, just turned out there was less grip in that area than i thought.

There are classifieds on here just look towards the bottomw of the homepage. Also the Tuners on here are much better than any handheld just ask around you might find one in your area.
