Anybody know if the Cometic head gaskets are reuseable?

I just got done with my cam swap in mid april and I hear the same noise....tick tick tick...and the valve train is louder... but I havent noticed it on any one bank...

I used 7.4 hardened rods and comp 918's but i didnt change heads...maybe it just sounds different due to the heads...

Hope you figure it out...if its something bad let me know so i can fix mine before I break it.

Mine are annoyingly loud, too. AFRs, Comp lifters, rockers, and cam. Especially around 1600 rpm. I haven't been publicly complaining because I am too lazy to check the lifter preload, with having to pull the blower off and all. Plus the weather hasn't been cooperative, either.

How much preload on the lifters? I ask this because of all my engine swaps and cam swaps, the valvetrain has been the hardest to get right for me? For me, too much preload will give me valvetrain noise around 1600-2000 rpms and the engine does not rev easy to 7000 rpms. I have used the LS lifters, Morels, and Caddys, and each lifter likes different preloads. For me on all the lifters I want no more than one whole turn, perferably 3/4 turn for me. I have the Caddy lifters now and got them torqued to just a little over 1/2 turn, and this is my best valvetrain setup so far pretty quite and will rev past 7000 rpms no problems, so far.

Also Lunati has 3 different levels of lifters for LS and the upper 2 have link bars, guess who makes them Morel....

Lifters came in this morning and I will pick up a new set of head gaskets from the dealer on Friday. So hopefully will be getting busy this weekend. I should hopefully have a package coming from Rick ---> this weekend too so It might get fast again pretty soon!
