Default I think it's about time to change the oil...


I've been considering sending this batch in to be tested to see if it really is a good idea to trust the built-in meter...

I'm pretty sure that's only on the 03+ models. i think you should go to synthetic and see if it makes a difference in the meter's readings.

I did it and makes no difference on the reading.

03-04 still had the limited cluster stuff I believe. 05+ got all the cool stuff, bastards.

My 2000 just says CHANGE OIL (!)

GM says oil life is determined by:
1. How long you are at what rpm,
2. How long you are at what throttle position, and
3. How many miles.

So if you never rev it over 2000, never give it more than 25% throttle, it will probably be 10,000 miles before it tells you to change the oil.
Mine usually is 6000-7500 miles, which is fine by me since I only use Mobil 1 5w-30.
