Default Ignition upgrade from Nology

I was looking through the new issue of Sport Truck and saw the Nology ignition upgrade in the SEMA new products.Does anyone think our truck ignitions need an upgrade with new coils, plug wires and ignition modules?I don't mind spending money on things that give a genuine increase in performance, but this thing has got to be expensive. Does anyone know anything about this setup? What do you guys think?

well, considering most of the high horsepower setups (the ones not running a fast setup) are running stock ignition systems i think we should all be fine with stock stuff until we get to the 700+ hp area. one of the SLP guys that was at their customer appreciation day last year told me that the stock system was good to over 700 in their Ultra Z.

a buddy of mine did the full nology uprgrade for his 350hp turbo MR2 he did dyno runs one day apart , once before and once after and got 3hp which doesn't even get past the +/- of the dyno. I'd be wary.

When I was racing a dodge neon, after the typical bolt on's, I was told by my vendor that I should upgrade my ignition to smooth out the power delivery. His recommendation was Nology wires and Beru plugs, since he has seen good results with them on VW's and forced induction applications.

After spending some $200 for all of that, I gained nothing in both ET and MPH on the track. What I did find is that it can interfere with some factory radios and/or computers. In one case my standalone ECU didn't work with them. But in other cases did on other vehicles.

Stay away from them is my opinion.

Nology has been screwing people over in the import scene for years. They are worthless. If you are going to upgrade, use the Magnecore's and MSD if you really need extra juice.

why bother? we have a coil per cylinder with a very short plug wire in between. you stand little if anything to gain. not worth the $$$$$.
