I had a FAL electric fan on my Toyota Tacoma and the fuse housing self-destructed just like that article said. One day I noticed that the fan wasn't running and popped the hood to find the fuse all melted. I'll have to say that Toyotas have an efficient cooling system, because I drove it for about two days without a fan in the summer before splicing in a new fuse, and the temp gauge never went over the normal mark.
The Toyota fan wasn't worth the money either. I paid over $100 more to get a "Toyota-specific" fan, and the only thing that made it different from their generic fan was four metal mounts (they were plastic in the generic fan). My fan always worked, but several other Tacoma owners had them fail from off-roading, beach running, etc. I know I'll never buy from FAL again.

Well, first my VSC went out. While replacing it with a DCC controller, I noticed the fuse had also partially melted. Not wanting to hassle with Flexalite, I shopped the local auto parts stores for a 40A replacement fuse holder, and could find none (is Someone trying to tell me something???). I ended up using a 40A PAL (?) fuse. It looks like a sugar cube with two large copper strips coming out. I bolted the wires to the strips via ring terminals, and enclosed the assembly in a plastic box from Radio Shack. So far, everything is working, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

check out nelson's website www.nelsonperformance.com. You use pin 42 on your pcm to ground out the relays and they'll turn on your fans when the computer says so. 4 wire hook up to trigger the relays and then 4 wires for the fans. You would have to ask how you turn on the ground through pin 42 with edit though, I have a Wester's and he did it for me
