Default Induction for an 8.1 Litre/ 496 CID

Morning everyone. I know this is called "LS1"tech.com, but I was hoping that there was someone here that could help. I follow the forums because of my new GTO. I would love to step of to a forced induction system. On the other hand, I have a brand new 4 door dually thats beggin for one also. Does anyone know if there is a company doing anything with these motors. Last I looked was when I had my '02 and there was nothing for the 8.1. I dont think its in my signature here, but you can see both the cars at My Cars

Thanks in advance. Bob

I think Tbyrne carries Raylar (?) cylinder heads and intake manifolds. Not sure on FI set-ups. Hope that helps.

Whipple makes a great intercooled s/c for the 8.1....i think 500hp and over 700 ft/lbs!!!!!

Whipple 8.1

I rode in a 2500HD on 40" tires with one and it smoked the tires thru second gear!!!!

Raylar makes some great stuff too. I've seen his marine stuff and it was top notch. Last I heard he was sold out out until mid April on his kits, but who knows.

Here's a pic of the Whipple kit we recently installed at the shop.

I'm going with Raylar myself. Like WhippledHD said he has top notch stuff. I had the heads and intake on order for 4 months be for I got them. I think Paxton makes a kit for 8.1 to. I would go with a Whipple over a Paxton thou.

If you are going FI, you might want to install better pistons. The 8.1's pistons apparently are weak and break easily under boost. I believe there is a thread or 2 that discusses this.
