Default information on headwork? joejoe? mr.mix?

I am thinking about getting my heads ported an polished on my 5.3L. Someone told me that it frees 30 horsepower. They also told me that if you get stage 2 heads, they will give me 60 horsepower. This person doesn't know much about our new trucks though, so this info could be wrong.

I am willing to spend $2500 to $3000 for these stage 2 heads if they give me 60 horses but I can not find any info about heads for our trucks on the web. Can anyone give me some information?

Also, why don't more people on our fastest truck list have headwork or heads? Why is it only joejoe and mr.mix that has headwork? Joejoe and Mr.mix, I would really appreciate it if you would give me some info on your heads and where you got them or got the work done and the benefits. Thank you.

What are you planing on doing with your motor. You may want to get 6 liter heads before you spend all that money on your 5.3 heads. 5.3 heads on a 10to1 motor will make high compresion to where the 6.0's won't. I had a local do mine. If you really want some built I can tell you someone in Houston.

mrmix, I want to put either a whipple or a magnacharger on it in the future. What is the advantages of getting 6.0 heads? They'll fit? Do they have more flow or something? What did you mean when you said that the 6.0's will be less compression? I heard that the less compression you have, the more boost you can run. Is that what you were getting at? Then what are the advantages of those gtp stage 2 heads over 6.0 heads? What did your 6.0 heads do for you? Did you just get some? or did you port and polish them first?

By the way I plan on a magnacharger or whipple and a camshaft. I have to drive it everyday. But I want to enter the low 13's or high 12's. Thank you for your help.
