there are many sponcers over >>>>> , if i had to choose today i would go with some CNC heads for TEA, they are prety fairly priced. or maybe a set of heads from absolute speed, they seems to have some of the best prices but might not be quite as proven as the TEA heads.

if you are looking at a blower later you definately want the 6.0 heads and lower compresion. something like 9.0-1 would be ideal, you will have to give the head guys a call and see what they have but most places are going to have a set up for low compresion 6.0 heads.

something to think about would be just geting a complete 6.0 to toss in there, i am unoficialy in the 12's now with a heavy fully loaded ext cab 4wd. you can see my mods below but the 2 big ones are 6.0 and whipple. i still have a completly stock 6.0 longblock in there.

Thank you for the information. Would a 6.0 swap benefit me for the amount of trouble it is to swap? I heard someone say that it might be 40 horses more. Is it worth it to do the swap over just buying my truck with a 5.3 liter already nicely installed? Maybe an engine swap is not a big of a deal as I think. What kind of price am I looking at? Core charge? I just sell my complete 5.3 to someone? Use some of the same parts on new motor?

Please help.

you may get other oponoins here but i am a big fan of the 6.0 swap. lots more torque and all the bolt on's will do better on the 6.0, the only negative would be gas miliage. it will use more gas.

the 6.0 is exactly the same externaly as the 5.3/4.8. it is a direct bolt in. i have seen low miliage complete longblocks going for $1000-$2000. you can probably get $500 out of your 5.3 but i kept mine as a back up so i can really push the 6.0 if i want and not be introuble if i blow it up.

IMPORTANT!!! if you do go the 6.0 route you need a 2001 or newer engine. it will have aluminum heads. the older ones had a diferent style crankshaft and less desireable iron heads.

TEA makes great heads for the price.

another company that has good heads at great prices is Absolute Speed

Check out their prices on the sale they are having right now too! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Well about the comment about switching out to a 6.0 liter, I have thought about that. But I was looking at tbyrne.com and he has some short blocks and long blocks ( I believe long block means that it has everything on it and short block is missing some parts?Maybe? Please correct me if I am wrong!) that go for between $3000-$8000. Well money is not a huge thing. I wanted a silverado ss but instead I am going to build my own so I can spend around $15,000 on motor whether it be motor or supercharger or whatever.

So many trucks I see on magazines like on this last Sport Truck, that guy with the black silverado that put a 6.0. Apparently the stock 6.0 couldn't take the power that he was going to give it so he changed all of the pistons and stuff to better brands. So with my budget should I go buy a factory 6.0 and change all of the drivetrain out like the guy on SportTruck magazine did or should I get one from tbyrne? Isn't tbyrne's the sh*t as for as quality? How about long lasting?

My intentions buy the way or to get to the mid 12 second range. That is in a 2004 single cab. I am going to purchase it in october or november so I am planning early to get organized and have a sensible and serious game plan.

Please help me. I would appreciate tbyrne's opinion too if any one could direct him to this post incase he doesn't read it. Thank you.

HOLLY *****!!!!!! 15K!!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

let me be clear here, i am in the 12's and maybe able to get some mid to low 12's out of my very heavy ~5500lb truck. with built tranny, blower, engine, and all the little stuff i don't think i have broken the 15K mark. in your truck mid 12's could be had for 1/2 that amount of money(easy). before i get going giveing you any more of my ideas i would like to know if you just want to go mid 12's or if you want to spend 15k and go alot faster.
