Default Install kit for Eaton posi and gear?

Anyone know if an install kit is needed to install a posi and gear? I know the carrier bearing has to be changed, but can I reuse everything else, or do I have to buy an install kit?
Thanks

You should get the installation kit...New crushe sleeve, carrier bearing shimms, carrier bearings and pinion bearings.

Ok, I have the 8.6 rearend from the factory, I am putting in a 8.5 ring and pinion, and a 8.5 posi. Which carrier bearing and pininon bearing do I need? 8.6 or 8.5? This is going in tommorrow, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I got a new Eaton posi off of Ebay for under 250 shipped. Gotta love that! They run around 450 from most shops. Gears will run about 150-200 just depends on brand and size. Install kits (depending on which one you get) will cost 50-150 for everything.
I don't think you will be able to use your stock gears because they are the 8.6 All posi units that I have seen come in 8.5, so I am almost certain that a 8.5 ring and pinion must be used. Someone verify this please.
I still need an answer to my previous question, if anyone knows.

The factory gears will work with it. It's still an 8.5 rearend. I've used my stock gear and an aftermarket no problem. Also don't forget to use the Motorcraft Friction Modifier additive to mix with your gear oil. You can get it at the dealer or some parts houses. It will keep it from chattering. GOOD LUCK!!!

I would not by the kit unless your truck has alot of miles. Just put it together the way it comes apart and no problems use the shims where they came off the old set up...no sweat...
