the fact that the argument is over a 3-4 dollar part is kindof gay. so this will be the rest i have to say on this topic. when i got my pulleys from TByrne he put in a new crank bolt. This comes in a package he sells along with the belts. when i took it to Steve Frank to do the install, he asked if i had a new crank bolt. All the instructions i have seen for the installation state to use the old bolt to torque it down and press on the pulley, then remove the old bolt and install the new bolt and torque it down.

i really hope you dont care THAT much about replacing a 3-4 dollar part. if you do you are surely in the wrong hobby.

Thanks RST

Update I went to McGregor to McClaren Chevrolet and bought a new bolt, it was in stock and cost 3.68 plus tax, came to 3.98. It is in stock and cost as much as a cheeseburger, there is no reason why you should try to get by reusing the old bolt.

did you even actaully READ that link, or did you just come back to try to make yourself look like a bigger hardass? If you would have read that you would have known that it was RELEVANT INFORMATION on this topic. Did you really think i gave a damn what you had to say about that link?

SO... why don't you go post up and tell THOSE people that the bolt isn't torque-to-yeild. LMAO, yeah cause they dont know what they are talkin about either with their 10 second cars. Yes they said you CAN reuse the bolt, but even they said it was better to get a new one. So with that said, yes, i would honestly believe those guys over what you have to say, they have proven theirselves many times over on this board, unlike you. i know it may come as a shock to you, but its ok, you wil live

I posted that so they would know if you wanna reuse the bolt you have to use locktite. but hey its alright, im in college and i get bored. so your constant bitching to show people how smart you "really" are is actually kindof entertaining. It's not like I have anything else to do up here in college.

Can't we all get along? Maybe it isn't aluminum, but the factory manual says to replace it so WTF is so bad about spending 4 dollars, damn are you a cheap *** or something. There is some kind of "coating" on the part of the bolt that contacts to pulley that makes them "stick" together, and once you remove the bolt, the coating is all messed up. That is why you need to replace it. If you want to save 4 dollars then fine, use locktite, but if you throw the pulley off at 6000 RPMs and it flies thru your radiator, you will be pissed.

yeah im gonna turn off [be an annoying bitch] mode now and get back to regular postings.

sorry for kinda demolishing ur post cashdude, but if u have any questions i'll try and help ya out. but i will tell ya that if you can find somewhere to install it for under 50 bucks it's worth the money. unless you have the tool that stops the flexplate from moving while you loosen the crank bolt (expensive tool i believe and jamming it with a screwdriver is a pain), along with air tools

good luck though! definatley a good bargain mod for these trucks <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
