yeah, the lq9 I've been building supposedly had about 50k, but some areas look significantly less, but even still, there was a lot of carbon buildup around the rings I wanted to get off while I was there...

The coating is on the piston skirts not the face of the piston so you're fine. Since you'll have it on an engine stand after you're done spray down each cylinder with non-chloronated brake cleaner then blow it out with compressed air with it upside down. Get the crud off the top ring really well. If you want to throw a couple of those discs in with my cutout wiring I'll let you
