Default intake for new truck

Well i went and bought a Silverado SS today. i really like the truck and cant wait to see what it really can do. i am going to put the electric fans off of my old truck and i am trying to figure out what to do about the intake. i have a volant air box on my old truck. do you guys think id be better off getting a UPD intake or using my volant air box and making my own intake pipe to go from the box to the throttle body??

also for those that are interested, i am planning on getting a yank 3000, thorley headers, dual exhaust, and hopefully LS1 edit as well, in addition to the fans and intake.

Those trucks are NICE! About the converter, I have the Yank3000 and I want more but traction is a big problem(2wd). If I were you I'd go with a higher stall since traction will not be a problem being that you are AWD. JMO

CONGRATS!!! Nice choice. I for one am very jealous.

The Yank 3000 will be perfect. A UPD would be fine, but you could easily make your own for much less and use the volant. It will be months before LS1 Edit is released for that truck, so be patient. Go with at least a dual 2.5" mandrel exhaust. Think about Ariziona Speed headers over the thorleys.

Pull your intake off the throttle body - Is the throttle blade gold in color and sit at an slight angle when closed?

i would go with a higher stall, but i need to tow and thats the highest i can go and still have my full towing capacity.

also the exhaust is dual all the way back to the muffler and then is single 3.5" or 3" on the way out. i think it is dual 2.5" but i havent looked closely.

i love the truck, but the torque management is definately felt as well as the shifts feel very wimpy, that might be because i was used to my old truck (4.56 gears and HPP3 shift firmness) but it definately feels fast, i cant wait to get this thing broken in and test out what it can do <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />

the main reason why i like the thorleys are because they are smog legal, cheaper than ASMs, and i have their headers on 3 other cars and am very happy with them.

what about The other guys headers??? i say that they are carb approved how do those compare to the ASM and thorleys??

the truck is also drive by wire, i dont know if all trucks are that way now or not, but that may answer your question about the throttle body, ill look today at it and let you know about it

Thanks. The escalade I've been working on has drive by wire too and its throttle blade is sitting at an angle. Looks funny.
