Intake is off...what should I Do NOW?

You can paint the intake, just use some hi temp engine enamel. Curious, is the intake aluminum or cast?

Usually guys port and polish heads and match the intake runners in the head to the intake gasket or manifold. You need to remove the heads to do this though. I doubt that you'll gain a whole lot trying to p&p the intake, if you can even access the runners. You might gain a little more flow and possible throttle response if you can get in there though.

Might want to put some masking tape over the ports on the heads if the intake is going to be off of the engine for a few days, so nothing finds it's way in there...

I've read that the exhaust ports are TINY on the 8.1 heads by GM to reduce emissions. I bet you'd gain bigtime by opening up those exhaust ports to let that big block breathe. Gotta pull the heads off to do that though.
