Default Is This Intake the Same As the AIRRAID?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38634

Looks just like the airraid to me, for $55 bucks too!

Also, is the Volant box with cold air package really worth the extra money, $289+$139 IIRC?

I WILL TAKE SOME PICS TOMORROW AND POST HERE. BASICALLY CUT A 3" HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE STOCK AIR BOX WITH A 3" HOLE SAW. USED A 3" PLASTIC PLUMBING ADAPTER MALE/FEMALE, TWO 3" FORTY FIVE* PVC PIPES BUTTED TOGETHER TO CREATE AN S SHAPE THEN I USED A 3" RUBER PLUMBING 90 TO GO TO MY FRONT VALANCE.
I HAVE A 2001 CHEVY WITH NO FOG LIGHTS. SO MY RAM AIR IS WHERE THE LEFT FOG LIGHT(IF YOUR LOOKING AT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE) SHOULD BE.
I HAVE ALSO SEEN PEOPLE USE THE DRYER HOSE TO ACOMPLISH THE SAME THING, JUST DEPENDS ON HOW TECHNICAL YOU WANT TO GET. TOOK ME ACOUPLE OF HOURS TO DO MINE.
LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT SOME PICS.

here is a couple of pics i tried to take this afternoon. hope you can see them
this is what it looks like from the front.the ring in the shadow is the tube

this is the 90* elbow at the bottom. One end goes to the valance the other to the offsetting 3" pipe to the air box

this was the path taken. i know it looks poor boyish but it diffenently works

this is one of the 3" couplings used. they come white but i painted them black

and here are a couple of pics of the hole into the bottem of the air filter box

hope this helps.

UPDATE:
After I read this post, and saw the money-back guarantee I figured $55 was a pretty fair price IF this was the same as the AirAid intake....I called Jim (I couldn't even begin to pronunce his REAL name...it's VERY asian...he said call him Jim) at ASMI, he sent the package out the same day my order was placed (last Thursday), I recieved it with a little skepticism on Tuesday (the box was a little crushed...thank you UPS)

Well, the 3 sided heat shield is make out of coated 18 gauge steel and has a rubber gasket along the top to seal to the hood (it seals good enough to leave an imprint in the hood liner), the filter is a BIG cleanable cone filter (looks EXACTLY the same as the AirAid or K&N filters), and the filter-to-MAF adapter has a very nice radiused opening leading from the filter to the MAF....EVERYTHING is VERY high quality.

The installation only took about 10 minutes to complete and the results (according to the butt-o-meter) are very impressive: it's nearly as quiet as the stock box, air-flow is definitly improved, acceleration at all speeds is better and the gas mileage has gone up (.4 mpg).

FINAL VERDICT: it's an AirAid Intake for $55

I'll post pics if anyone wants to see them.....

Damn I might have to get one just for the heat shield. The DJMotorsports heatshield is a flimsy POS.

I have the same setup. Bought mine from Ebay too. Nicely dine if you ask me. I have a little ram air going too...folded back the flap beside the radiator. Cut the silencer off your airbox and you'll really have an Airraid!
