Well I must say it is REFRESHING to see you guys calling a torque converter a "converter" and not "a stall"! And thanks for calling the 4L80-E an 80E instead of the ambiguous elementary term "A4"! For some reason a lot of F-Body people find it acceptable to use an incomplete adjective as a noun! okay, done ranting, thanks.

If you don't have the 4L80-E running yet you will love it when you do. If it's already done then you know what I mean! Looks good.

man i think i will enjoy it. joe went over the whole thing with me.it's going to feel good to have a clutch pack hit instaed of other things. money is a little tight. i oredered a few more parts that should be in wednesday next week. after that i should be able to get the driveshaft taken care of. i will pick up the flexplate bolts today and pull here out-install the verter and reinstall her for good.

oh yay PI says to put 1/2 quart in the verter and install her. did you put that much in or more.

For what it's worth, I was able to get 3 quarts into my Yank 2600.

That's awesome though - I'm so jealous.

I hate the 'weak link' in my truck.

I quit trying to fill up the converter before putting it in. That thing will hold a huge amount of fluid, something like 5-8 quarts. I've always just poured enough in to bring it up to the neck and let it sit while I get things ready to go again. I figure that would give it enough lube to keep it from being metal on metal. Once it's all in and you fire it up, all the fluid the pump picks up goes straight to the converter. That's why I always turn the ket over enough for it to fire and then turn it off as soon as it does fire. After that fill the trans back up and do it again. It will take a couple times of doing that to fill the converter up. Once the fluid stops dropping when you do that, run it through the gears a few times on jack stands. Check the fluid very frequent. Once it gets enough temp on it and runs through the gears and a couple of TCC lockups in OD, then you can drop it to take it out for an easy test drive. Check the fluid before and after though.

If it's low on fluid it won't have the fluid to fill the valve body. If the valve body doesn't fill when the gear changes, it won't fully engage. If the clutches don't fully engage that might be your brand new tranny being burnt up.

I can't stress enough to check the fluid frequently.

It amazes me how little some of those car guys actually know.

Check you're blood sugar, and you check it often.... Hahahaha

I just put about a quart in the converter before install. I used to try and fill it up but that is time comsuming and messy when you're trying toslap the converter in the trans.

looking good. impressive how much heavier that thing is than the 60 when you're hoisting it up by yourself huh. that purple monster is great, when the tcc locks in, prepare for belt slippage. i hope to see a burnout video when it's done.....
