Default JPR tool

I bought the JPR lifter tool from Thunder Racing for my upcoming cam swap. Now I've read that there has been issues getting them in the block all the way. Did I just waste money on buying this? I have the aluminum block L76.

im assuming youre referring to the rods that insert into the block. you could of bought dowel rods from local hardware store.

Yeah I know, but from what I've read the square part of the JPR tool locks the lifter in. The round dowel I guess doesn't do that.

Just don't want to pick one out of the pan. I'm not a very lucky person and if that slim chance of something happening, it will always happen to me.

I meant in the trucks. I thought the Vortec Max was an iron block.
